Jeannie Mai's Blog: Hope in the City 2010
Last night I had the honor of hosting Hope in the City, an amazing gathering of talented designers and artists from all over the world to showcase their art for a great cause. 100% of anything purchased from cookies to art last night was donated to Haiti, and supporting causes like Serve LA and Beyond Us, and this event was created and fueled by 100% volunteers. The roof was packed at the historic Vibiana in downtown LA, and I’m a new fan of a couple of fly freakin designers we featured. Big ups to this beautiful layout by eye2eyephoto just to give u guys a peek at the venue and us. (Thanks Jason!)
I hafta say my eye was definitely caught by 2 outstanding parts of the show. One being the Experimental Runway Show directed by Corrie Sullivan. Here the designers were challenged to create gowns and dresses using 85% paper, 100% creativity. I had my eye on one particular paper dress that I’ve decided I’m going to sport this baby at next week’s Star Magazine’s red carpet party. (U’ll hafta wait to see which gown it is, sorry- no sneak peek!)
Thank you to Rustin from Rustin Michael Photography for providing these kick butt pics of these fantastic dresses!
Pictures will be revealed at Star Magazine party
The next designer I was gaga over was Shpetim Zero. Having created for Carolina Herrera to Christian Dior, Spetim took our show on the dark side of fantasy and fixation. It was gorgeous. I cannot wait for next year. Thanks to all my fans who came out to give for great looks, and thank you to all the volunteers who made the fashion fantastic.
